Fiji Times Thursday 30 March 2017 RELCORP (Fiji) Ltd managing director Bob Lowres says the island development is rock solid after completing ground compaction tests on Naisoso Island.
Entec Ltd, the company which conducted compaction tests on Naisoso Island, revealed the island meets international standards.
Entec Limited, managing director, Pratap Singh said the results meet requirements of Australia and New Zealand standards.
The compact test results reflect and reveal it all, the percentages are high so in my opinion the mechanical effort that has been exerted by the appropriate machinery used by the earthworks contractor, Vuksich & Borich (Fiji) Ltd achieved the best possible pass results, Mr Singh said.
“The level of compaction achieved is in excess of the required design which is 96 per cent standard, in fact generally relative compactions were around 100 per cent. Therefore, the building footings or foundations for normal loads would be no different to those expected of a normal in-situ clay soil or perhaps cheaper. There is the added advantage that the material is non-reactive, therefore it is expected to perform better than clay soils for shrinkage and movement (building cracks). In fact in its re-compacted state the material is better and more improved than the original material. Read more…
