Fiji Sun, March 24 – Nadi International Airport has been named as one of the 10 most improved airports around the world in the 2018 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
It has ranked Nadi International Airport number six.
This is a major achievement for Fiji, for Airports Fiji (AFL) Limited and a proud moment for all Fijians.
Fiji is the only developing country which made the list. It is the only country with less than a million people to make the list.
The other nine airports on the list of most improved airports are all from developed nations.
This is a testament to the massive upgrade work done at the airport which has no doubt lifted the profile of our main point of entry to international level.
Airports Fiji Limited and executive chairman Faiz Khan deserve credit for such a significant recognition.Government needs to be applauded for implementing the relevant laws to allow for the modernisation.
It cost AFL $129 million to undertake the massive upgrade work.
The upgrade and modernisation of Nadi International Airport were timely and recognition by such a reputable organisation like Skytrax is a validation of the hard work put into it.
The entire time the modernisation project took place; there was minimal or no disruption to guests flying in and out of Fiji.
The faith the Fijian Government put in this project is also a proof of the faith they put in AFL’s management under the guidance of Mr Khan.
This is what we achieve when we appoint people on merit.
