Fiji Times Wednesday 05 April 2017 THE Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) has extended the date for submissions to the Draft 1 of the Maritime (Labour Convention) Regulations 2017 to another two months.
MSAF public relations and communications officer Arnold Chanel said after further deliberations when submissions had closed on March 27, the authority saw there were not enough submissions.
“We have seen that there are very little submissions probably because of the limited time so we have decided to extend it for another two months so that everyone has a say,” he said.
“A further two months is provided for industry comment with all written submissions to be received by May 31, 2017 at 4pm. It should be marked as ‘Draft 2 MLC Regulation 2017′ and addressed to the chief executive officer, Level 4 Kadavu House, 414 Victoria Parade, Suva’.”
Mr Chanel said MSAF would also be conducting public consultation and awareness session in the Central, Western and Northern divisions.
The public consultation is expected to be held from May 15-19 with the venue to be confirmed later. Read more…
