Koya downplays political motive at handover

Fiji Times Tuesday 05 September 2017  Update: 2:04PM FIJI’S Minister for Lands Faiyaz Koya says his Western Division Road Show has no political motives.

While assuring lease recipients in Rakiraki today, he said the handing over of renewed leases and approval notices was an ongoing process.

“It is human nature for people to question motive and there will always be those that will attempt to paint the negative picture of such an occasion but I want to clearly state that this handing over of renewed agricultural leases and approval notices has been an ongoing exercise and is in no way fueled by political ambition and must not be purported as such,” Mr Koya said.

“This roadshow and public consultation are for you, our State land lessees.

“We’re here to hear your thoughts, concerns, and issues and discuss with you all the possible resolutions that may, in the future, amicably transition the entire process of State land leasing, bearing in mind both sides of the coin.”
