“This is basically our way at the InterContinental of saying thank you to our key partners for the amazing work which was done in 2014,” said Mr Mitchell.

He said their partners should be applauded for establishing emerging markets for Inter-continental and we need support from our distant stakeholders.

“They are here to position themselves to the property as we move to marketing Fiji and InterContinental Resort as a destination for 2015. It is all about offering authentic Fijian experience in modern setting.”

Mr Mitchell said it is vital for both parties to work together for the betterment of the ever growing tourism industry.

 Thoughts from IHG

Mr Mitchell said there are some strategies put in place to ensure that visitors are maximised on flights.

“Having met with the stakeholders we have learn’t that the flight capacity for Fiji is difficult,” he added.

“We should see how many passengers are coming from overlong markets from the plane to transit to other markets. At the end of the day we have to make sure to keep business primarily first for Fiji and the InterContinental resort.”

He said strategies were working well in long haul markets including Europe, United Kingdom, North and South America while emerging markets includes Asia, such as Korea, China, South East Asia and the Middle East.

“With reference to the number year on year it is interesting to note emerging markets have exceeded extent growth.

We have some partner increasing their business productivity from as low as five per cent to as high as 20 per cent as far as productive growth is concerned.

“These show the marketing strength,” Mr Mitchell said.

He said the market almost doubled its percentage compared to previous years.

He said IHG was excited even with the market from Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Hudson said: “We have an amazing beach, Fiji’s number one luxury brand resort which is high and above any other brand resort in Fiji.

“Award winning restaurant and spa with high level entry room and the international standard 18 hole golf course.”
