13th August 2024 (Suva, Fiji): In June 2024, FNPF-owned IHG Hotels in Fiji—including InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva, and Holiday Inn Suva—celebrated Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) through Pride Month and a new partnership with the Trans Affirmative Action Guild (TAAG). These initiatives aimed to raise visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community and foster a culture of inclusivity within the workplace.
Pride Month Activities
Globally observed every June, LGBTQIA+ Pride Month commemorates the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots, honoring and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. To mark the occasion, DE&I Champions at each FNPF-owned IHG hotel facilitated discussions about Pride and prominently displayed the “Pride Flag” at all three locations. The flag served as a symbol of inclusivity and support, while afternoon tea events provided opportunities for meaningful dialogue among guests and colleagues.
Partnership with TAAG
In addition to Pride Month celebrations, FNPF-owned IHG Hotels & Resorts in Fiji proudly announced a landmark partnership with TAAG, making IHG the first hospitality brand in Fiji to adopt such a transformative approach. This collaboration highlights IHG’s commitment to being the employer of choice in the region and supports the organization’s DE&I goals.
The MOU between IHG Hotels & Resorts Fiji and TAAG outlines roles and responsibilities for workforce training and support activities. It aims to enhance understanding of diverse SOGIESC individuals and underrepresented groups through workshops and training. TAAG will also receive venue access and sponsorship support.
