Hong Kong senior officials welcomes Fiji’s interest in trade and tourism

The Fiji Times, 20 August 2019 – HONG Kong is the gateway to China and rest of Asia, and we see great opportunity to increase exports, tourism, cultural cooperation, and inbound investments.

The Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Local Government, Housing and Community Development, Premila Kumar, while in Hong Kong said  this during her meeting with the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, Carrie Lam, the Under-Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr Bernard Chan, and the Commissioner, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to China, Xie Feng, on Thursday, 15 August 2019.

Mrs Kumar reflected on the close bond shared by Fiji and China and stressed Fiji’s adherence to the “One China Policy” and respect for the “One Country, Two Systems” for Hong Kong.

She also referred to Fiji’s visibility and popularity in Hong Kong, through its success in the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens.

The Hong Kong Administration welcomed Fiji’s interest and further discussed measures that will support tourism cooperation, SME development, capacity building, leverage of merchandise trade and investment.…read more
