Heavy Rain Warning and Flood Alert

Fiji Sun,Wed 28 Feb: The following alerts and warnings are currently in force:

A “Heavy Rain Warning” remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Group, Northern and Eastern parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu and its nearby smaller islands.

A “Flood Warning” is now in force for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to and downstream of Vatukacevceva to Rakiraki town and downstream;

A “Flood Alert” remains in force for low-lying areas and small streams for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Northern and Eastern parts of Viti Levu and now in force for downstream of Nasivi to Tavua Town; and

A “Strong Wind Warning” remains in force for all Fiji waters.

For all Fiji waters, mariners can expect Northerly winds 20 to 25 knots with rough seas, poor visibility in areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The current situation will be closely monitored and any alert and warning will be issued as and when appropriate.

Members of the public are advised to remain updated with the latest weather information and take alerts and warnings seriously.

All communities that are prone to flooding and landslide are urged to be extra vigilant and take precaution during this ongoing wet weather conditions.
