Fiji Sun Sunday 05 March The Government is keeping its promise to review the national minimum wage rate this year.
This was confirmed by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Jone Usamate.
After the 2014 General Elections, the Government increased the national minimum wage rate from $2.00 per hour to $2.32, which was a part of FijiFirst manifesto. Government had said that by increasing the national minimum wage rate (with 45 or 48 hour week), more than 100,000 marginalized workers would have their weekly wages increased from $90-$96 range to $104.40 – $111.36.
