The Fiji Roads Authority is looking at ways to reduce traffic congestion during peak hours.
This is after Transport Minister Jone Usamate directed the authority to look into the issue.
Usamate says the increase in the number of cars is also one of the factors which lead to traffic congestion.
”I have asked the agencies to sit down and look at the ways in which we can ease the traffic congestion. There is a lot of cars coming into Fiji now. I have noticed FRA is being talked about some solutions for the long term.”
FRA had earlier proposed to have a parking right.
The ideal situation for parking right would be Nausori into Suva on the new road work that is about to finish in June which allows FRA to dedicate one lane for buses.
FRA says to do that it needs a lot of internal authority and ministerial agreement. Read more..
