Workplace Responses to Gender Based Violence

April 12, 2021 - April 15, 2021

$3,500

Background

One in three women worldwide experiences physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. In the Pacific, rates of violence are even higher. Men, boys and girls can also be affected.

Violence impacts individuals, their families and communities and creates a cost to business through decreased employee safety and well-being, lost productivity, increased absenteeism and turnover, and reputational damage.

Workplace responses to GBV support individuals that are affected by violence, create more respectful and safer workplaces and improve business bottom lines.

This 12-day competency-based training program will equip participants to deliver workplace training aimed at addressing GBV and creating gender-equal and safer workplaces. The course will be piloted in Suva, Fiji in 3-4 day blocks on the following dates:

  • Block 1:  12.04.2021 to 15.04.2021
  • Block 2:  19.04.2021 to 22.04.2021
  • Block 3: 26.04.2021 to 29.04.2021

The course is targeted at professionals in the fields of HR, OH&S, D&I, workplace training and GBV and work, from Fiji.

The course is based on IFC’s work with the private sector in East Asia Pacific including with over 50 businesses in Fiji, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and provides culturally sensitive, gender-equitable and business-focused solutions to address GBV as a workplace issue.

It is envisaged that after the pilot, the course will be localised for other countries and offered remotely.
