The Voice of the Industry
The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association is committed to providing more training opportunities for your staff in 2022. Our next sessions are focused on policy development for Child-Safe Tourism and Respectful Workplaces.
CONTENT:
Topic 1: Child Safe Tourism Policy and Practices
Child Safe Tourism practices are those that ‘do no harm” to children and young people. This training will provide participants with the tools to recognise and respond to situations that may increase the risk of child exploitation and abuse within their business operations and the communities that they operate. The participants will be provided with resources to promote the message of Child Safe Tourism amongst their staff and adopt a Child Safe policy for their business operations.
Topic 2: Workplace Responses to Gender-Based Violence: Creating Gender Equal and Safe Workplaces
Respectful and Safe workplaces are free from workplace bullying and sexual harassment and provide appropriate support for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This training will provide participants with insight on the indicators and effects of domestic and sexual violence, workplace bullying and harassment and how to formulate an appropriate workplace policy to respond to this. The participants will be provided with resources to raise awareness of these issues amongst their staff and adopt a Respectful Workplace policy for their business operations.
DELIVERY:
Each topic will be delivered in back-to-back sessions on May 17-18 in Nadi followed by 4 weekly online sessions to provide local context.
The program will conclude on 24 June with the final in-person session, where participants will be required to present their policies and create their pledges for Child Safe tourism and Respectful Workplaces.
TARGET:
This training is open to all levels of staff but would be most appropriate for HR staff or HODs that would be responsible for implementing the policies and providing awareness to other staff on completion of the training. Participants should be able to commit to the full program to receive the full benefit of the training.
