Fiji Times – Thursday 31st May 2018 – IT is estimated that in 2015, Manta Channel snorkel trips by multiple tourism related Marine Conservation Agreements (MCA) operators generated revenue of $220,080.
The Manta Channel, a narrow passage between Drauwaqa and the Naviti islands in the Yasawas offered direct fi nancial support and income generating operating opportunities to community businesses. A study by Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and Marine Ecology Consulting (Fiji) Ltd revealed support to landowners included a percentage of income from manta viewing activities as part of land lease payment.
