Fiji Times Saturday 10 June 2017 ECONOMIST Dr Neelesh Gounder of the University of the South Pacific (USP) says things such as business capacity to pay and requirements for social and economic development should be considered when setting a minimum wage.
He made the comments in response to calls from the Fiji Labour Party and the National Federation Party to lift the minimum wage from $2.68/ hour to $3.50 and $5 respectively.”Both minimum wages and living wages are part of labour market strategies to enhance earnings of low income workers and families.
