Fiji Times Friday 31 March 2017 A MEDICAL company is confident that Fiji could be known as a medical tourism destination on the global map in the near future.
Sahyadri Specialty Pacific Hospital Ltd (SSPHL) Fiji said the Fijian Government’s policies were most encouraging for the development of the medical tourism sector.
The company’s comments come as it prepares to conduct open heart and joint replacement surgeries in Fiji in May.
Some patients from Australia and New Zealand have reportedly shown interest in undergoing the super speciality treatment in Fiji by specialists brought from India by SSPHL.
Apart from the overseas patients, locals have also been contacting SSPHL to make arrangements for the surgeries which will start on May 15.
Open heart surgeries will be performed at Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva for two weeks from the said date while knee and hip replacement surgeries will be held at Lautoka Hospital for a week, from the same date.
SSPHL Fiji director Professor Manu Munibhargav said Fiji was becoming a hub for high ended medical facilities.
Prof Munibhargav said small neighbouring island countries were looking towards medical expertise available in Fiji for the treatment of their citizens. Read more…
