Fiji Times Saturday 19 August 2017 FIVE traders have been charged and are expected to appear in court for non-compliance with tax and Customs laws.
Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) chief executive officer Visvanath Das said these traders were part of the 20 traders that were investigated by FRCS.
Mr Das, in a statement yesterday, said some of the non-compliant offences ranged from issuing incorrect tax invoices, not issuing tax invoices at all, value added tax (VAT) registered companies not showing the VAT component on the tax invoice and particulars on the invoices were incorrect.
“As part of our door to door visits, a total of 535 traders have been visited so far by our officers in the Central Division to check on their compliance level,” Mr Das said.
“Out of these 535 traders, almost 40 per cent have been found to be non-compliant.
“A similar exercise is underway in the Western and Northern divisions.” Read more…
