Fake Facebook profiles involving the Reserve Bank of Fiji

Fiji Times Thursday 03 August 2017  FIJI’s trade deficit amounted to $231.5 million in February this year, a slight decrease compared with $281.7m recorded earlier in January.

According to the International Merchandise Trade Statistics for February 2017 released by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, the total value of goods imported was $353.2 million while the value of total exports was $121.7m.

Compared with February 2016, total imports to Fiji increased by $75.6m (27.2 per cent) whereas total exports decreased by $46.3m (27.6 per cent).

Import categories during the review period also recorded notable increases.

These included mineral products which went up by $20.2m (39.3 per cent) to $71.5m because of increased imports of gas oil (diesel).

Imports of vegetable products also increased by $15.1m (125.2 per cent) to $27.2m as a result of increased imports of wheat and meslin.  Read more…
