Fiji Times, Tues Feb 6 – Sales Director of Wyndham Resort, Adrian Bosely, shares with local media what it takes to be a leader and working in Fiji.
Since arriving in Fiji seven years ago, Mr Bosley, has helped improve the sales revenue for the resort, and helped staff rise above and beyond their own personal and professional expectations.
“When I first came here seven years ago we had a total of maybe 30 staff and now we have a hundred and in that small period of time we have been able to expand. At that time our sales was like $10 million to $12m and now we are at $30m. To get to $30m it probably took us about five years to make that”
How did he Achieve this?
“Well staff development, there has been a lot of hiring, unfortunately there has been a little bit of firing and there has been a lot of staff development. Just patience and moving the expectations of performance from where it was, but it does take a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice of trying to find the right people,”
His Business Philosophy
Jason believes in potential and unlocking leadership qualities. His ultimate goal is to find the best person locally to take over from his position.
“There’s a whole bunch of people here that I feel, that I have helped grow in their position and can fill in this post when I leave this chair. I need to make sure that at some point I will need to leave but before I go I have to make sure that the next person who takes over is from here.
“My philosophy up here is ‘the Enemy of great is good’. In order to be great you need to challenge good in order to get to that greatness. So am giving the opportunity to these guys to show things.
“So a lot of people they would say ‘I didn’t go to university, my family did not have a lot of wealth to allow me to do those things and pursue my dreams. It does not make any difference, when you step in this office because you have a chance to make something out of yourself, in an environment with people who are all like-minded.”
Who he acknowledges for his success
Adrian heaps praise on Project Director Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Pty Ltd, Jason Bavister:
“I owe a lot of my job to this man, he has really been there for me, through my ups and downs and he has taught me alot.” Read in Fiji Times
