Kiwi born chef ready to excite taste buds
FIJI, 3 December 2018: VOMO Island’s cuisine is being further enhanced with the recent arrival of Kiwi born chef Michael Fosbender.
VOMO pairs exceptional cuisine with a stunning setting and warm local hospitality and Michael’s international flair and skill is helping elevate the dining experience to the next level.
In his role as Executive Chef Michael is creating outstanding Pacific Rim cuisine drawn from his diverse cultural chef experiences over the years in Christchurch and Wanaka in New Zealand, Brazil – where he finessed his Japanese cuisine – and the Cook Islands.
VOMO Island offers guests a daily changing menu featuring top quality local and imported produce – a challenge Michael is looking forward to.
“Working on a private island in the South Pacific has been a career ambition for the last 6 years and I’m excited to be here at VOMO Island. I was very impressed from the moment I arrived; the hospitality and genuine warmth and welcoming of the staff, and most of all the guests were all enjoying themselves.
“Immediately I could see how my past experiences could slide straight into VOMO. The local produce is similar to where I have worked, but much more available, which is exciting. The possibilities seem endless for dish and menu creation, and I’m most excited about having the daily changing menus to play with and enhance each dish that we create.”
Michael will be working closely with Chef De Cuisine, Thushan, to push the boundaries to ensure that VOMO remains renowned in Fiji for its cuisine.
Mark Leslie, General Manager of VOMO Island Fiji says, “We’re excited about the arrival of Michael and the creativity and flair he brings with him, as exceptional cuisine is key to the Vomo experience.
“When the sun goes down, guests expect stunning cuisine to match this outstanding setting…and we deliver on this promise daily.”
VOMO has daily changing menus at its two restaurants; The Rocks for adults only, twice weekly for dinner, with Mediterranean and Spice menus using a share plate concept, and a la carte dining at The Reef, which is elegant dining for 3 course lunches and dinners.
Families can dine together if they wish, or kids can dine at the Kids Village where they have their own restaurant, with their own dedicated chef.
