Fiji Times Thursday 17 August 2017 WEATHER is a vital aspect of the tourism industry and the Fiji Meteorological Service is playing an integral role in providing climate and weather reports for tourist operators.
FMS director Ravind Kumar said weather affected every community and sector in the country and the tourism sector was no exception.
“Weather is a resource and Fiji is very resourceful in the fact that it gets both rain and sunshine which are two events that affect the tourism sector directly,” he said.
“For tourism, we know that there is a preference by our international visitors who like our warm weather so that is something that we provide daily for our tourists and for our tourist operators.
“The Fiji Meteorological Service not only provides seven-day forecasts, but also we provide a three-month outlook for tourism planners on what to expect in terms of rainfall and sunshine over that period.
“So this provides a good planning tool for our tourist operators and for international visitors planning to visit Fiji.” Read more…
