TROPICAL CYCLONE KENI CENTRE 993HPA CATEGORY 1 WAS LOCATED NEAR 16.4 SOUTH 171.4 EAST OR ABOUT 590 KILOMETRES WEST OF VIWA AND ABOUT 660 KILOMETRES WEST-NORTHWEST OF NADI AT MIDDAY. POSITION FAIR. TROPICAL CYCLONE KENI IS CURRENTLY MOVING EAST-SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 16 KM/HR. CLOSE TO ITS CENTRE, THE CYCLONE IS EXPECTED TO HAVE AVERAGE WINDS OF 85KM/HR AND MOMENTARY GUSTS TO 120KM/HR. TC KENI IS GRADUALLY INTENSIFYING. MEANWHILE, AN ACTIVE TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WITH ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN REMAINS SLOW MOVING OVER FIJI.
ON THIS TRACK, THE TROPICAL CYCLONE CENTRE IS EXPECTED TO BE LOCATED ABOUT 340 KM OF WEST OF VIWA OR ABOUT 400 KM WEST OF NADI AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND ABOUT 120 KM SOUTHWEST OF NADI OR ABOUT 150KM OF SOUTH OF VIWA AT MIDDAY TOMORROW.
