Fiji Times, Sun 29 Jan – There are plans to building dams in the next financial year at the Nakauvadra and Penang rivers.
A TOTAL of $212,000 has also been allocated to the Rakiraki Town Council for a series of drainage clearing projects expected to start soon. Minister for Waterways Dr Mahendra Reddy said a memorandum of agreement was signed two weeks ago. Work will be carried out in different parts of town and will mainly include creation of open channel drains, clearing of debris from drains and installation of culverts. “The total work is expected to cost around $212,000 so all work must be done in this financial year before June 30.
