Fiji Times Thursday 19 October 2017 THE new president of the Australia-Fiji Business Council brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having spent more than 40 years actively involved in Fiji tourism.
Geoffrey Shaw was elected president of the council at the 31st annual general meeting held in Sydney on October 13.
A statement from the council yesterday said Mr Shaw’s experience in Fiji had extended to his ownership in overseeing and developing various projects and initiatives which included the purchase and re-development of Castaway Island, Fiji and the concept and development of the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.
It said over the years, Mr Shaw had actively engaged with relevant government departments and ministries in Fiji and had negotiated and secured construction finance through the World Bank, European Investment Bank, Export & Finance Insurance Corporation and the provision of takeout finance through the Fiji National Provident Fund and local commercial banks.
