After Intercontinental Hotel Group announced it was banning miniature hotel toiletries last month, IHG’s CEO Keith Barr told us he hoped other chains, such as Marriott International, would follow suit. Because sustainability is “not the top priority for every government” he said, “it’s up to businesses to step up and lead the way.”
On Wednesday, Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain, has announced it’s doing just that. The company is ditching mini toiletry bottles for large pump-topped bathroom products. All toiletries in the company’s more than 7,000 hotels, in more than 130 countries, will be bulk-size by December 2020—with many brands making the switch by July 2020. Read more…
