Join us alongside the HOTEC Tradeshow for an unparalleled experience in professional development and competition excellence. The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA), in collaboration with the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), proudly presents a dynamic series of competition finals set amidst the vibrant atmosphere of HOTEC 2024. This initiative not only enriches the event but also fosters invaluable networking opportunities for HOTEC exhibitors and industry professionals alike.
Preliminary Events Across Fiji
To ensure a seamless experience at HOTEC 2024, preliminary events will be held across various locations:
- Suva: 17 – 20 September
- Nadi: 24 – 27 September
- Taveuni: 07/10 – 09/10
These events not only serve as qualifiers but also form part of a comprehensive training program roadshow. Expect tailored training sessions and masterclass demonstrations conducted in collaboration with APTC and our competition partners. Participants in the training and practical assessments will receive full certificates upon completion. Specific details will be finalized in alignment with FHTA, ensuring a cohesive and impactful learning experience.
Competition Categories
Participants will vie for top honors across the following categories, designed to showcase excellence in hospitality and tourism.
- Barista Competition – in partnership with the South Pacific Coffee Company (SPCC)
- Cocktail Competition – in partnership with Finest Liquor & Triple 3 and Punjas
- Cooking Competition – in partnership with Fiji Gas and Punjas
Each event is meticulously judged and promises to highlight the best talents in the industry. Categories and judging criteria will be determined through mutual agreement between APTC and competition partners, ensuring fairness and transparency.
Finals at HOTEC 2024
The 1st and 2nd place finalists from each division will advance to compete in the prestigious finals at HOTEC 2024. This culminating event promises to be a showcase of skill, innovation, and dedication to excellence in the hospitality and tourism sector.
Cost and Registration
FHTA Members: $300 VIP per participant
Non-Members: $450 VIP per participant
This fee includes:
– Two certified courses from APTC
– Participation in training sessions and masterclasses
– Entry into HOTEC preliminary competitions
– Networking opportunities
– Comprehensive training materials and assessments

After completing the registration of interest, you will receive a link to the APTC course application. Each participant must complete and submit this application to track progress and obtain certification upon completion.
Be sure to register early to take advantage of this opportunity, as there is pre-course work required for the training sessions. Each division is requested to register by close of business on the Thursday prior to the training week outlined above.
Each training stream will include 2 certified courses from APTC.
