Fiji Times Thursday 02 March THE Lau Group is the gem of Fiji’s yachting industry.
With a revenue of about $38 million income driven by the industry annually, Yacht Help Fiji’s managing director David Jamieson believes the development of the Lau Group would definitely widen economic opportunities locally.
He said Savusavu and Taveuni were known attractive spots for yachters but Lau was still the untapped potential.
“Lau is just one of the most beautiful places in Fiji especially around Vanuabalavu and surrounding islands which is becoming a famous stop-over for yachters,” Mr Jamieson said.
“Off course with the approval of the landowners and provincial council, yachters’ arrival on the island will economically empower the villagers and communities.
“When yachters come to Fiji, they spend money in supermarkets, restaurants, hardware shops, markets and in villages for meke and lovo food.” Read more…
