NADI, FIJI – 08 February 2023 –The Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay donated shoe vouchers to Class 1 students from the nearby community schools, to ensure they started the beginning of their schooling with proper shoes on Tuesday, 7th February.
A total of 68 shoe vouchers were presented to students from Savusavu Primary School, Namata Primary School, Ratu Nemani Primary School, Wai District and Tau Primary, as part of the resorts ‘TakeCare’ charitable culture, an initiative driven by the resort since 2017.
“I am very grateful that we could continue to support the families in the surrounding communities of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay and that we have built a strong relationship with the villages over the past 6 years.” commented Silvano Dressino, General Manager at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.
The initiative was born from one of Silvano Dressino and his wife Katrin Dressino’s many visits to meet the headmasters and teachers of the local schools surrounding Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.
It was on one of these visits, they learnt that the cost of a pair of school shoes was a significant amount for a family with often a sole-bread-winner and aligned with Marriott’s ‘Spirit To Serve’, were eager to find a way to support these families who had a child starting Class 1 each year. The resort initiated to run this as a ‘TakeCare’ initiative as part of Marriott’s culture to support the communities in which they operate.
TakeCare represents Marriott International’s global commitment to promote opportunity, community and purpose for all.
Established as a wellbeing initiative in 2010 to give associates easy, efficient ways to improve their health, today TakeCare offers holistic programs beyond just physical wellbeing including mental and emotional health, career development, financial planning, teambuilding, recognition, sustainability and social impact, and much more.
