The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) announced the appointment last week of its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Glen Vavaitamana, who joins the FHTA Secretariat in this newly created role.
Chief Executive Officer of FHTA Fantasha Lockington said “One of the key areas for FHTA’s 2020 focus is branding and visibility and Glen’s 10 years of communications & public relations experience provides the required fit with the Association’s Strategic & Business Plans going forward.”
Key priorities for the Association that have been outlined in its 5 year strategic plan include a strengthened lobbying voice for tourism, increased branding and visibility, enhanced data & research capabilities, industry training and development focus, membership benefits and growth opportunities.
Glen’s primary role will be to manage the Association’s implementation of the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Strategy, as well as promote and maintain the visibility of the FHTA and its’ members work in tourism.
Ms Lockington noted that tourism is a critical industry that needed to be better understood and enhancing public relations networks through associated media platforms was one way to ensure this is achieved.
Before joining FHTA, Glen worked as a Freelance Communications Consultant and Events Coordinator. He had previously worked for Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption, Fiji Television Limited and Communications Fiji Limited.
