On Thursday, 17 March 2016, a delegation from the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) presented a total of $122,000 (One Hundred and Twenty-two Thousand Dollars) to the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama. The FHTA delegation was led by President Dixon Seeto.
Mr. Seeto advised the Prime Minister that many Association properties contributed to local communities via cash or kind immediately after Tropical Cyclone Winston.
embers coordinated with each other to source and transport humanitarian relief supplies all over the country. Many properties and members were also sent relief supplies from their guests and requested that these be sent to areas of need.
Some members contributed directly to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
The Prime Minister, in accepting the Cheques, thanked the membership of the Association.
He stated that the level of devastation was unprecedented but he was touched and encouraged that Fijians were assisting Fijians at all levels.
He also thanked and acknowledged our guests who have contributed via our members.
The President and Directors would like to thank all those who reached deep into their pockets and hearts to help those affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.
We acknowledge below our members who contributed to this appeal in addition to what they have already contributed in cash and kind.
