Fiji Sun Tuesday 23 May 2017 The motion to announce the 2017-2018 budget date for June 29 was approved in Parliament yesterday.
In moving the motion, Leader of Government in Parliament, Inia Seruiratu said the decision to finalise a date for the Budget address was announced at an earlier Parliament sitting.
“You all know that the starting sitting date for 2017, it was agreed that the Budget be confirmed later,” Mr Seruiratu said.
However, he added that Budget consultations were still underway.
“As you are aware Madam Speaker, consultations have taken place and still on going. A few Government ministries are yet to go through their final consultations next week.
“Therefore the date has been confirmed for June 29 for the budget address. This is pretty straight forward and a very important activity,” Mr Seruiratu said. Read more…
