Fiji Times, Mon, Feb 12 – Villagers in southern Lau have been warned to be cyclone prepared at the highest level.
The National Disaster Management Office has issued this warning after forecasts by the Fiji Meteorological Service that Tropical Cyclone Gita was expected to pass south of Ono-i-Lau as a Category 4 system tomorrow night.
NDMO has also advised that storm surges should be expected and accompanied by damaging gale force wind.
“Assets and property must be secured.
“Water tanks, fibreglass and other outboard motor boats must be safely secured on land.
“Stocking up of food and drinking water in clean, sealed containers is also necessary.”
