Cross training boosts tourism industry skills transfer

Fiji Times February 25- THE general manager of Grand Pacific Hotel, Peter Gee, says helping with smaller resorts in cross-training boosts the tourism industry in general.

This was after the GPH was approached by the management of Nanuya Island Resort in the Yasawa Group to undertake a cross training exercise for six members of their food and beverage (F&B) staff.

“We were approached by our colleagues from the Yasawa Group in Nanuya Resort because they needed more exposure for their F&B staff,” Mr Gee said

“So they sent six of their staff in F&B section; three from the kitchen and three from the front office; they’ve come to Suva because the management at Nanuya thought it would be a great idea to give them some cross-exposure to see what happens in other operations; in bigger operations,” Mr Gee said.
