Fiji Times Monday 31 July 2017 THE Consumer Council of Fiji says consumers who were incorrectly charged the two per cent credit card levy (CCL) between January 2012 and August 2013 can now obtain their credit card statements free of charge from their respective banks.
The council said in a press statement that it was grateful to the Association of Banks in Fiji (ABIF) for taking this initiative to ensure consumers did not have to pay extra money to obtain credit card statements at unreasonable costs.
Meanwhile, a CCF press release issued last month on the matter said the reimbursement of CCL had now become another money-making opportunity for banks.
CCF said ANZ and BSP banks were charging $10 for each credit card statement while Westpac was charging $5, meaning credit card-holders from ANZ/BSP who wanted to check statements from 2012 to mid-2013 would have to pay $180 for 18 months’ statements. Read more…
