Fiji Sun, May 4 – Fiji has recorded 3197 confirmed dengue cases so far this year.
This is an increase of 1343 cases from the 1854 cases recorded by the Health Ministry in January.
Revealing the figures, Health Minister Rosy Akbar said people must be responsible for their own health.
“Again, I must stress that everybody is responsible for their own health,” she said.
Of the 3197 cases, Ms Akbar said the Northern Division recorded 1443 cases, Western 908, Central 825 while the Eastern Division had 21 cases.
“As such, we thank the general public for their continued support in our efforts to combat dengue. Like I said, they (public) play an important role in combating these outbreaks and we would like to encourage them to continue to practise preventative measures to prevent themselves and their families from communicable diseases,” she said.
