Fiji Times Wednesday 16 August 2017 AN investment of $1.3 million by The University of the South Pacific (USP) will soon see the opening of a new state-of-the-art tourism and hospitality facility in Fiji’s tourism hub — Nadi.
USP Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), which caters for the universities vocational and skills training, will open its tourism and hospitality centre in Namaka, Nadi, on Friday.
Pacific TAFE executive director Hasmukh Lal said the need for the facility in Nadi arose after discussions with industry players and governments.
This, he said, was to address the big skills and development gap which remained at the entry and para professional levels of employment, a large proportion of which are from the hospitality workforce.
Mr Lal said the launching of the centre made trainings more accessible to students and existing workers in the Western Division which boasts majority of tourism activities in Fiji, a testament of market demand. Read more…
