SUMMARY:Pacific Governance Series: Webinar 1 - Board Leadership in any Crisis
DESCRIPTION:PACIFIC GOVERNANCE SERIES: Addressing gendered impacts of COVID-19 to create safe and resilient businesses \nBackground: The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting health and economies across the globe. While the Pacific has had fewer cases of COVID-19 in comparison to other regions\, Pacific economies are severely affected. Businesses are facing disruptions from supply and demand-side shocks which are compounded by the gendered impacts of COVID-19 on the workforce. Increasing unpaid care responsibilities and gender-based violence are disproportionately affecting female employees and the business bottom line through reduced productivity\, and increased absenteeism and turnover. The crisis will have a long-term impact on how companies function and conduct their daily operations. Companies that make choices to ensure that women and men have equal opportunities can lay the groundwork for a quicker recovery\, and a more resilient future after the crisis ends. \nAbout the Series: This webinar series addresses the uneven gendered impacts of COVID-19 on the private sector in the Pacific through providing insights from leaders in the Pacific\, presentations from experts\, resources and tools and implementation support. Participation is free and open to all private sector businesses and entities in the Pacific and is tailored for board members\, CEOs and HR professionals. \nWEBINAR 1:\nBoard Leadership in any Crisis\nGood corporate governance practices are crucial during crises as it provides companies with tools and mechanisms\nto maintain business continuity\, demonstrate leadership\, and build goodwill and trust within their communities.\nThis webinar will equip company leaders with practical insights and strategies to navigate their way through any\ncrisis. \nAPRIL 2021

SUMMARY:CBi Digital Series: The Role of Private Sector in Accountability to Affected Populations and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
DESCRIPTION:Date and time: \nOption 1: 6 April 2021 at 4:00 – 5:15PM Geneva time – Register here \nOption 2: 7 April 2021 at 7:00 – 8:15AM Geneva time – Register here \nTarget audience:  \n\nCBi Member Networks (MN);\nMembers and private sector partners of the CBi networks\n\nSession Description:   \nThe Need for Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in Private Sector Humanitarian Actions \nAs the private sector continues to play a significant role in disaster risk management and humanitarian action\, the need to ensure that there are mechanisms to promote accountability and inclusive participation of community stakeholders becomes even more significant. Accountability and inclusion mean that those who are the most vulnerable and at-risk are placed at the centre of disaster resilience and humanitarian programming. This needs to be continuously advocated and demonstrated in programs\, activities and business practices where the private sector engages in disaster risk reduction\, preparedness\, response and recovery interventions. \nSexual exploitation and abuse by humanitarian workers\, including the private sector\, constitute acts of gross misconduct and are grave violations of the responsibility to do no harm and to protect people affected by crises. It is also serious reputational damage to the entity whose staff is involved in such acts\, including for its partners. It is important that the private sector is firmly committed to the global fight to eradicate any incidents. This can be done by including Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) as part of the private sector own disaster management operations\, raise awareness and train their staff from management to the field level to prevent any incidents. \nThe CBi Orientation-Consultative Session on Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) aims to provide practical application of the concepts and methodologies of APP and PSEA in order to enable participants to gain awareness and appreciation on how to promote AAP and PSEA in their own disaster risk management and humanitarian programs and activities. Practical guidelines and checklists on AAP and PSEA\, applied to the private sector\, will be provided to easily facilitate the adoption of AAP and PSEA practices. The sessions will also include a consultation with CBi member networks and other private sector representatives to customize the CBi AAP and PSEA checklists for the private sector. \nSession Objectives: \n\nTo facilitate awareness of how the private sector can promote accountability and inclusion at an operational level in disaster risk management and humanitarian actions;\nTo introduce the importance and core principles of PSEA in disaster management\, and to discuss how the private sector can best adopt these practices in their operations; and\,\n\n\nTo consult on the AAP and PSEA guidance notes and check-lists\, particularly on what is needed to finalize the tools for the practical use of the private sector entities.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Remote Workers & Digital Nomads - Post-COVID Destination Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:The trend of remote workers and digital nomads was on rise over the last 5 years\, but has accelerated dramatically due to the pandemic. This virtual session features presentations from speakers representing destinations across the world that have the potential to adapt their economies through the substantial global growth in remote work\, including ways in which these destinations are actively engaged in attracting remote workers. \nThis discussion will cover not only the opportunity for tapping into this new market but also how to create lasting economic opportunities beyond tourism for local people. Panelists include destination marketers\, community organisers and digital nomads to give a variety of perspectives on this sometimes misunderstood sector. \nWe highly recommend signing up for this webinar if you are either: from a destination that is looking for advice on how to cater for this new and growing market and want to find out how remote workers can benefit your destination\, or if you want to learn more about becoming a remote worker yourself and the steps you should take to make this change. We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your questions!
