SUMMARY:The Global Food Security & Sustainability Virtual Summit 2021
DESCRIPTION:About\nThe Global Food Security & Sustainability Virtual Summit 2021 “Towards A Future Safe Global Food System” 17 September 2021 \nOverview\nThe Global food system is at a critical stage and made worse by the COVID-19 pandemic. As many as 265 million people are threatened by famine\, up 50% on last year; 700 million suffer from chronic hunger; and 2 billion more from malnutrition\, with obesity and associated diet-related diseases increasing in all world regions. During the height of the pandemic with lockdowns\, we have witnessed the collapse of the global food system with reports of food producers resorting to dumping their produce. The food crisis faced during the pandemic is a wake-up call for both developed and developing countries of the looming crisis facing the world when the next major crisis hits us\, be it climate change\, pandemics etc. \nAlthough the world has progressed significantly in terms of technological advancements in food production\, food is not distributed in an equitable manner to regions\, countries\, households and individuals. Government policies\, availability of investments and technological know-how and improved access to food supplies are key issues that meet the urgent food needs of the world’s growing population. New and innovative farming technologies such as high-tech agriculture and aquaculture methods that produce more yields inland and urban conditions offer hope for the future. \nThe Global Food Security & Sustainability Virtual Summit 2021 held on the 26 to 27 August 2021\, would be one of the most important events ever held to address the critical issues of food security from the local level to the global level\, and from an interdisciplinary and systemic food systems perspective. The summit will invite multi-stakeholders from governmental organisations\, private sector businesses and NGOs to address the current disruptions and possible solutions on the world food supply chain. Discussions will also include issues surrounding sustainability issues and how societies and businesses can design more sustainable solutions in their entire food chain to minimize impact to the environment and reduce food waste. \nSee you at this landmark event. \nTopics: \nGeneral Issues \n\nFood security And The Sustainable Development Goals- Addressing Food Security\, Improved Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture By 2030.\nWorld Food Supply Chain: Disruptions And Implications From Covid-19.\nCOVID-19 Has Caused Food Insecurity To Worsen\, But Will Climate Change Be Much Worse?\nCreating A Sustainable & Inclusive Food System.\nCritical Actions To Redesign The Future Of Food In 2021.\nThe Importance Of Revaluing Food And Food System Workers.\nHow To Incentivise Food Systems To Meet The Realities Of The 21st Century.\nStrengthening Sector Policies For Better Food Security And Nutrition Results.\nFood Laws And Regulations: Improving Efficiency And Transparency In Food Safety Systems.\n\nThe Role of Technology \n\nArtificial Intelligence For Food Security – Robotics\, Computer Science\, Cybersecurity\, Information\nSecurity And Engineering For Farms Of The Future.\nCreating A World Food Chain Monitoring System – A Much Needed Solution?\nRefocusing Agri-Food Tech To Solve Today’s Critical Problems – The Task Of Feeding 10 billion People By 2050 Sustainably\, Affordably And Nutritionally.\nThe Impact of Data-Driven Technologies In Food Systems – The Use Of Technology To Produce And Conserve Nutritious Food\, Improve Food Quality And Supply.\nAgriculture sector: Preparing For Disruption In The Food Value Chain.\nIs Urban Farming A Viable Solution To Assuring Food Security In Asia?\nFood Supply Chain Optimization And Value Creation Through Digital And Analytical Technologies.\n\nReducing Food Waste \n\nFood Security And Waste: Lessons From The Pandemic.\nReducing Food Waste Across The Supply Chain: From Retailers To Consumers. SUMMARY:Evaluating the role of risk management for infrastructure projects
DESCRIPTION:This webinar deals with risk from a commercial and contractual position within joint ventures and PPPs. It identifies the value of the ‘clause by clause’ risk assessment and risk apportionment and acceptance. \nDealing with the subject of risk attribution as it relates to project SPR’s this webinar would attract an audience involved in bidding and tendering within complex transactional designs where project staging also adds complexity to managing risk. \nThis webinar would be useful for senior executives and managers who are involved in major projects domestically.

SUMMARY:CBi Digital Series: The Role of Private Sector in Accountability to Affected Populations and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
DESCRIPTION:Date and time: \nOption 1: 6 April 2021 at 4:00 – 5:15PM Geneva time – Register here \nOption 2: 7 April 2021 at 7:00 – 8:15AM Geneva time – Register here \nTarget audience:  \n\nCBi Member Networks (MN);\nMembers and private sector partners of the CBi networks\n\nSession Description:   \nThe Need for Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) in Private Sector Humanitarian Actions \nAs the private sector continues to play a significant role in disaster risk management and humanitarian action\, the need to ensure that there are mechanisms to promote accountability and inclusive participation of community stakeholders becomes even more significant. Accountability and inclusion mean that those who are the most vulnerable and at-risk are placed at the centre of disaster resilience and humanitarian programming. This needs to be continuously advocated and demonstrated in programs\, activities and business practices where the private sector engages in disaster risk reduction\, preparedness\, response and recovery interventions. \nSexual exploitation and abuse by humanitarian workers\, including the private sector\, constitute acts of gross misconduct and are grave violations of the responsibility to do no harm and to protect people affected by crises. It is also serious reputational damage to the entity whose staff is involved in such acts\, including for its partners. It is important that the private sector is firmly committed to the global fight to eradicate any incidents. This can be done by including Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) as part of the private sector own disaster management operations\, raise awareness and train their staff from management to the field level to prevent any incidents. \nThe CBi Orientation-Consultative Session on Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) and Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) aims to provide practical application of the concepts and methodologies of APP and PSEA in order to enable participants to gain awareness and appreciation on how to promote AAP and PSEA in their own disaster risk management and humanitarian programs and activities. Practical guidelines and checklists on AAP and PSEA\, applied to the private sector\, will be provided to easily facilitate the adoption of AAP and PSEA practices. The sessions will also include a consultation with CBi member networks and other private sector representatives to customize the CBi AAP and PSEA checklists for the private sector. \nSession Objectives: \n\nTo facilitate awareness of how the private sector can promote accountability and inclusion at an operational level in disaster risk management and humanitarian actions;\nTo introduce the importance and core principles of PSEA in disaster management\, and to discuss how the private sector can best adopt these practices in their operations; and\,\n\n\nTo consult on the AAP and PSEA guidance notes and check-lists\, particularly on what is needed to finalize the tools for the practical use of the private sector entities.

DESCRIPTION:SPTO’s partner\, and a founding member and chair of the global Future of Tourism movement\, the Travel Foundation will present early insights from interviews with international tour operators\, travel agents and travel influencers from key source markets\, to help Pacific SMEs understand and respond to changing market and consumer demands. Supported by funding the US embassy in Fiji\, this research will form the backbone of a project that will include the development of an Are you Ready for Recovery? Toolkit for SMEs\, set to launch later this year\, providing up-to-the-minute market intelligence\, alongside practical tips and advice to ensure the region’s tourism SMEs are ideally positioned for tourism when it returns. \nWe invite interested members and associates – including governments\, NTOs / DMOS\, community & industry organisations\, chambers of commerce\, and others – to join us for a webinar\, to hear more about the project and to access exclusive early insights from the research.
