FHTA Awareness Session

The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) has organised awareness sessions that will discuss updates on legislation changes, policy requirements and staff welfare initiatives that kick starts a series of Awareness Sessions covering a range of topics. Presenters with expertise in the relevant fields have been engaged to discuss the following topics at this session:
(1) Child Protection & Handling Practices for Hotels – Iris Low-McKenzie, Save The Children
This session provides background on raising awareness on Child Rights and Child Protection, including the legal regulatory environment in Fiji; minimising risks to children and a Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct in workplaces where children are cared for.
(2) Part 1 – The new Online Safety Bill – Ana Tuiketei, Solicitor AP Legal
How will you be affected? Addresses cyber bullying, cyber stalking, internet trolling and exposure to offensive or harmful content and applicable fines.
(3) Part 2 – Sexual Harassment Policy for the workplace – Ana Tuiketei, Solicitor AP Legal
Why you must not only have one in place but also train your staff and understand it and the upcoming legislation to address organisations that have not.
(4) A Micro-insurance Package for Tourism Industry Workers – Sunita Reddy, Fiji Care Insurance
A bundled insurance package that offers a combination of insurance covers within one insurance policy for workers who have not been able to affordthis before that needs less administration and offers term life, funeral expenses, property and personal accident cover.
The presenters will provide attendees with an overview and background of the topics and can be engaged individually by members to provide face-to-face training for employees for compliance requirements.
